Making the Case for Ohio’s Early Childhood Workforce 

In an op-ed published April 26 in the Akron Beacon Journal, Summit Education Initiative (SEI) Executive Director David James urged Ohio lawmakers to pass House Bill 484, the Workforce Investment Now (WIN) for Child Care pilot program. The bill would allow early childhood educators to access publicly funded childcare for their own families without their income counting against eligibility.

Drawing on SEI’s role as Summit County’s cradle-to-career backbone organization, the op-ed reframes childcare as essential economic infrastructure.
